Matteo is an Italian financial professional with a 15-year work experience in FP&A and project financing in private and state-owned enterprises.
Since 2015 he has been serving as a Senior Finance Manager at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), the world’s largest financial institution by total assets. He has gained a deep understanding and expertise in the Chinese financial sector, been directly involved in cross-border transactions to finance projects along the Belt and Road Initiative.
Prior to that, he spent 7 years in Italy as a Financial Controller working within the Fininvest group, one of Europe’s largest communication groups, covering business operations in EMEA and LATAM regions.
He came to China in 2013 and studied at Liaoning Normal University, focusing on Chinese language and culture as a Confucius Institute Scholar. He later graduated from the National School of Development at Peking University and received a master’s degree in business administration.
He is a frequent contributor to major Chinese media outlets (CGTN, China Daily, Beijing Review) covering economy, finance and global politics.
Since 2021, he has not only become a GYLD member, but also an MBA alumni ambassador of the National School of Development at Peking University.
In 2022, he received the “Foreign Permanent Resident Identity Card of the People’s Republic of China”.
