The Saudi MISK Foundation delegation visits the GYLD Secretariat

On December 23, 2024, a delegation from the MISK Foundation’s leadership program visited the Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD) Secretariat and the Center for China and Globalization (CCG). The representatives, carefully nurtured young talents from Saudi Arabia, are poised to be the backbone of the country’s future development, including more than thirty Saudi ministerial advisors and CEOs of multinational corporations. They engaged in in-depth discussions with special guests and GYLD members on important topics such as economy, trade, culture, and the Belt and Road Initiative. This visit marks the first time the MISK leadership program has come to China, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of China’s political, economic, and diplomatic development and to promote Sino-Saudi cooperation.

At the beginning of the event, Dr. Mable Lu Miao, founder and Secretary-General of the Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD) and Secretary-General of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), warmly welcomed the guests. She stated that Saudi Arabia, as a major country in the Middle East, enjoys a strong friendship with China, and there is immense potential for cooperation between the two nations. Especially as the “China-Saudi Arabia Cultural Year 2025” approaches, this visit and exchange are particularly meaningful.
Subsequently, Ms. Leen Sheraiff, the head of the leadership program at MISK Foundation, introduced the MISK Foundation and its youth leadership initiative. Mr. John Zhao, Director of External Relations at CCG and Manager of GYLD, then introduced the GYLD project and the just-concluded 2024 annual meeting.
Afterward, three distinguished guests invited by the GYLD Secretariat shared their insights from the perspectives of politics, economy, and diplomacy. Professor Wang Yiwei, Director of the Institute of International Affairs at Renmin University of China, spoke on the topic “How to Get Across China’s Politics to the World”  Starting from several issues of international concern, he provided an in-depth explanation of China’s political system and culture.
Mike Liu, Vice-president and Senior Research Fellow of CCG  gave a talk titled “The Path of China’s Economic Rise: Key Drivers and Future Outlook,” sharing his profound insights into the future development of China’s economy from a historical perspective and a global viewpoint.
Dr. Karim ALWADI, a member of the China-Arab States Expo Advisory Committee, delivered a speech on “China’s Foreign Policy and China’s Perspective on the Middle East.” Drawing from his personal experiences in China-Arab civilian diplomacy, he shared his views and suggestions on China’s diplomacy and cooperation between China and the Middle East.
The insightful sharing by the three distinguished guests sparked a warm response from the attendees, who actively engaged with the guests on topics of interest such as the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Saudi cultural exchanges. During the reception, they also enjoyed tasting the unique delicacies of Beijing. Both sides expressed their intention to further strengthen exchanges and learn from each other in the future.The MISK Foundation, founded by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in 2011, aims to cultivate and inspire future national leaders of Saudi Arabia through projects in the fields of education, entrepreneurship, leadership, and cultural creativity. The foundation has several leadership programs that train government backbone, social leaders, and young talents aged 18 to 50. The foundation’s leadership trainees play a key role in the economic and social transformation of various sectors in Saudi Arabia.

The Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD) program will continue to commit to fostering dialogue and cooperation among young leaders from different cultural backgrounds, contributing youthful strength to the promotion of a global community with a shared future.
